Glovo Appoints Reni Onafeko As New Nigeria Country Managing Director

Glovo has appointed Reni Onafeko as its new Country Managing Director for Nigeria, placing her in charge of the delivery platform’s operations and growth strategy in one of its fastest expanding markets.

Onafeko takes over from Lamide Akinola, who stepped down after more than three years as the company’s Nigeria managing director. She has been overseeing Glovo’s Nigerian operations since the beginning of 2026.

Her appointment comes as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan. Brandspur Brand News reports that Glovo considers Nigeria a key growth market, after the country recorded its strongest global growth performance in 2025.

The company said it delivered 38 million items in Nigeria over the past year, highlighting the scale of demand for on demand delivery services across the country.

Onafeko is expected to build on that momentum by working with Glovo’s teams, business partners and wider ecosystem while pursuing sustainable growth.

Speaking on her appointment, Onafeko pointed to her experience in strategy, finance and growth as providing a strong understanding of Glovo’s business and opportunities in the Nigerian market.

She said she was looking forward to building on the company’s achievements and delivering sustainable growth in the years ahead.

The leadership change comes as delivery platforms continue to play a growing role in how Nigerians access food, groceries and other goods, particularly in major urban centres where convenience and speed have become increasingly important to consumers and businesses.
