Dettol Nigeria Rewards 30 Winners as 12-Hour Protection Storytelling Challenge Ends

Dettol Nigeria has rewarded 30 Nigerians with cash prizes after concluding its 12 Hour Protective Shield storytelling challenge, which invited consumers to share personal experiences with Dettol Original Antibacterial Bar Soap.

The campaign ran from 13 July to 31 August 2026, attracting stories centred on childhood memories, family hygiene practices and the role the soap has played in people’s daily routines. Winners were selected after the entries closed and received cash rewards for their submissions.

The Brandspur Brand News Desk reports that the initiative formed part of Dettol Original’s wider marketing campaign, which promotes the product’s claim of providing 12 hours of protection against 99.9 per cent of illness-causing germs. Under the message “12 Hours, Protection That Moves With You”, the campaign sought to connect everyday hygiene habits with consumers’ daily activities.

Beyond social media storytelling, Dettol extended the campaign to physical locations through market activations in several Nigerian states. The activities combined product education and demonstrations with handwashing stations and direct engagement with consumers, giving the brand opportunities to communicate its hygiene message beyond digital platforms.

Boma Harrison, Marketing Director at Reckitt West Africa, said the campaign offered Nigerians an opportunity to explain what protection means to them and their families. She also noted that the stories reflected the brand’s longstanding presence in Nigerian homes and reinforced the importance of maintaining hygiene in everyday life.

The initiative brought together consumer-generated stories, product demonstrations and in-person engagement as Dettol sought to strengthen its connection with households. For consumers, the challenge provided a platform to share personal experiences with a familiar household product, while the cash prizes offered an additional incentive to participate.

Dettol Nigeria’s campaign combined brand promotion with public-facing hygiene education, using personal accounts and community activations to keep everyday cleanliness at the centre of its engagement with consumers.
