Bleeding Cool confirms it: after the 2006 big screen adaptation written by the Wachowskis, the V comics written by Alan Moore and David Lloyd between 1982 and 1988 will be turned into a series. Channel 4, producer of shows such as Black Mirror (taken over by Netflix) and Utopia, is behind it.

V for Vendetta is a dark and violent dystopia describing a world ravaged by the effects of climate change, a world controlled by a totalitarian government not shying away from torturing dissidents. It has recently become the universal symbol of revolution and resistance.

A man will rise up against this regime, his face hidden behind a Guy Fawkes mask (who, incidentally, will soon have its own series, Gunpowder, starring Kit Harington). This mask has now acquired cult status ever since James McTeigue‘s movie, used by demonstrators all around the globe and re-appropriated by Anonymous.

Alan Moore is going quite well at the moment, since HBO is currently working on adapting Watchmen, another cult comics of his. The serialisation of V for Vendetta, however, has been confirmed neither by Channel 4 nor Warner Bros (who holds the rights to DC Comics and Vertigo).
