Husbands in the Diaspora.

In the organization where I worship, there is a big prayer gathering of women at the middle of every year. They also have seminars on specific areas of need. I was surprised when I saw in one of the program brochures a seminar topic for wives having husbands in the diaspora. And some of these husbands have been away from their wives and children for upward of 5 years with no indication of when their families will be joining them wherever they are.

If we could sample the opinions of some of these women, I assure you that they would prefer their husbands at home, by their sides, ‘roughening’ it out here. I mean what is the point of marriage if companionship is lacking and a woman has to raise her kids alone when she is not a widow!

Isaac had a challenge with an unfavourable economic climate and he wanted to relocate too. By divine instructions, he stayed put in that land and prospered (Ref: Gen: 26:1-14).

Going overseas to look for the proverbial greener pasture is no crime or sin in itself, especially if you are so led. But the plan should include a relocation of your family too.

The key for me is if you are so led.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God” Rom.8:14.
