The GE Lagos Garage’s commitment to advancing manufacturing innovation across the world, and in Africa, in particular, has led to the birth of the GE Invent Program, an online training program developed to rapidly upskill entrepreneurs across the continent in the principles of hardware design and hardware product creation.

This Online Training Platform has been carefully formulated to help hardware entrepreneurs with an existing product or product idea quickly learn and implement skills and techniques that can help them validate their ideas, and innovate around their products with a view to creating true value for consumers across the world.

This pilot Invent Program will expose participants to the tenets of industrial design, the uses of Computer Numerically Controlled machinery and 3D printing in the prototyping and production of hardware solutions. The overarching purpose of this platform is to expand our reach and help more hardware entrepreneurs rapidly transform their ideas into truly viable, valuable products.

As part of the GE Lagos Garage Invent Program, shortlisted participants will be granted access to a variety of detailed videos, instructions and assessment methods designed to test and improve participants’ knowledge of hardware manufacturing and product design and development. They will learn to apply the core principles of design thinking, product development and business development and expansion concepts to their ventures, and figure out ways to get real-time feedback on their decision-making.
