Up in The Sky to host specialize workshop at 2019 Cannes Lions festival

One of Nigeria’s most promising advertising agencies, Up In The Sky will be making a strong appearance at the 2019 Cannes Lions  International Festival of Creativity where it is slated to host a created workshop session at the sideline of the global award showpiece.

This was made in social media post by the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the of the young agency, Oje Ojeaga and Idiare Atimomo who declared that the workshop which is themed “From Crap Script to Crazy Film” will explore ways of creative collaborations between writers and directors with a view to bringing scripts to life as a finished product.

The workshop which holds June 17, at Cannes festival is a major highpoint for Up In The Sky which has since carved a solid niche for itself as an agency with a strong reputation in making short films. Recall that at the 2016 LAIF awards, the agency won gold for The ‘Special Day’ campaign which was a short film focusing on the plight of street children.

The campaign which was done on the behalf of Royal Diamond Orphanage also got international recognitions including Platinum Award for the Best of Category at the 2016 Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award competition.

In 2016, Insight Publicis became the first Nigerian agency to host a creative session at Cannes Lions. The 45 minutes presentation focused on learning about the nuances of marketing to the African consumer, from the sub-Saharan African perspective.

This year’s Cannes Lions festival is significant for Nigeria because the country will be having its largest number of the active participant at the event. Aside the team at Up In The Sky, other Nigerians that are expected to play active role at the global fiesta of creativity are Steve Babaeko, CEO X3M Ideas, who will be making his speaking debut at the global event and media and Lifestyle entrepreneur, Familusi Akin Babajide popularly known as Mr. FAB, who has been appointed MC and host on Cannes TV.

Others include music stars, Tiwa Savage, Femi Kuti and eLDee the Don, and actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde

 

The ‘Special Day’ campaign was adjudged one of the very best out of 1,100 entries received and won in the Integrated + Mixed Media category.
