The Rotary District 9110 has venerated leading telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, for its service to humanity, advocating the telco for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in the areas of Health, Environment, Youth/Women Empowerment, Water and Sanitation, Poverty Alleviation and Education, amongst others.
At an event held last weekend at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos, Kola Sodipo, District Governor, Rotary District 9110 and Dr.Jide Akeredolu, District Governor-elect, Rotary District 9110, presented the ‘Rotary Outstanding Invaluable Company Award’ to a team of Airtel employees led by the Information Technology Director, Seun Solanke.
A citation read in honour of Airtel at the event said the “award stems from your impactful Corporate Social Responsibility projects, which Rotary considers invaluable in the service to humanity.
“The Editorial Committee of Rotary District 9110, Nigeria, this year, set a committee of evaluators to look into Corporate Social Responsibility projects and programs of companies and their impacts. After the evaluation, we found your organization, Airtel Nigeria, worthy of this award, having gone through your CSR projects.
“To this effect, we consider your organization as a partner in progress in our service to humanity and, therefore, award you with the “ROTARY OUTSTANDING INVALUABLE COMPANY AWARD.”
The ceremonywas attended by severalprominent personalities including the Consular-General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Nigeria, Dr. Stefan Traumann, who also doubled as the Guest Speaker at the event.
