The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of Pen Cinema axis in Agege, for ongoing construction work on the Fly-Over Bridge in the area from 11.00 am on Wednesday, 17th June to Thursday, 25th June 2020.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, who made the announcement through a release issued by the Ministry on Tuesday, stated that the closure became necessary to enable the contractor’s launch beams across Iju Road without any interruptions.
He explained that for better management of the traffic situation along the axis during the closure period, alternative routes have been provided for motorists to navigate their way without any problems.
According to him, “Motorists coming from Fagba end of Iju Road will be diverted through Ifako General Hospital Road and Oyemekun Road, to link up College Road inward Ogba, while commuters heading to Mosalasi Alhaja will be diverted to link Ijaye Housing Estate from Odejobi Road. In the same vein, Iju bound motorists will be diverted through Ijaye Road inward Ogba and Oba Ogunji Roads”.
The Commissioner also assured that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, will be deployed to the diversion points to manage movement, ensure the free flow of traffic and enforce strict adherence to the directives issued.
While imploring motorists to cooperate fully to minimise the expected minor inconveniences the diversion may cause, Oladeinde appealed to the residents, especially those in the affected areas of the State, to bear with the government as it works tirelessly to build an efficient multi-modal transportation system for the benefit of all Lagosians.
