The Nigerian bourse today (Thursday) closed positively, with a gain of 0.19%, sustaining the previous winning streak to five consecutive trading days, following value appreciation on some bellwether stocks like MTNN, GUARANTY, ZENITHBANK, and 17 others.

Consequently, the market breadth closed on a positive note, recording 20 gainers as against 10 losers.

In summary, the All-Share Index (ASI) increased by 48.30 absolute points, representing a growth of 0.19% to close at 24,930.34 points. Similarly, the overall Market Capitalization size gained N25.20 billion, representing an increase of 0.19% to close at N13.01 trillion

SEPLAT emerged as the top gainers while UBN emerged as the top loser.

The upturn was impacted by gains recorded in large and medium capitalized stocks, amongst which are; SEPLAT (+9.03%), GUINNESS (+3.85%), UBA (+2.38%), ZENITHBANK (+1.21%), ETI (+1.19%), GUARANTY (+0.64%) and MTNN (+0.42%).

FOREIGN EXCHANGE

The Naira at the official window on Thursday closed at 381.00/$1, unchanged against the previous day’s position.

The Investors and Exporters (I&E) FX window opened at N386.88, traded high at N390.00, and eventually closed at N385.50representing a 0.96% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. A total of $10.49 million was transacted through the I&E window today.

MONEY MARKET

Overnight(O/N) rate closed at 8.64%, representing a 0.69% depreciation against the previous day’s closing position, while Open Buy-Back (OBB) rate closed at 8.00%, representing a 0.50% depreciation against the previous day’s position.

NASD OTC MARKET

The NASD OTC market today (Thursday) closed on a negative note as the Unlisted Securities Index (USI) closed at 706.07, representing a 0.57% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. Similarly, Market Capitalization gained N2.93 billion to close at N518.65 billion, representing a 0.57% appreciation against the previous day’s closing position. However, the aggregate volume and value decreased by 98.69% and 83.13% respectively, as investors traded a total of 16,978 shares, worth N1.20 million in 6 deal.
