On the 8th of September 2020, the world celebrated International Literacy Day, an initiative by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) aimed at highlighting the importance of literacy to individuals and communities.

In commemoration of the International Literacy Day and as part of our initiative to improve financial literacy in the country, United Capital Plc organized an event for children themed “Grooming kids financially in a digital world”. The event was aimed at teaching kids how to be financially responsible and cultivate a savings culture even at a young age.

Due to the pandemic, the session was held virtually via video conferencing app, Zoom, where children from aged 6-10 attended with the supervision of their parents/guardians. Tony Clown, a child educator who served as the host, used illustrations, practical activities, and humour to engage the children.

The session was particularly beneficial as they were taught various financial terminologies and equipped with essential financial skills to navigate life into the future. They also learned about Heritage Trust, a United Capital trust account that helps parents ensure their children’s education and welfare is secured when eventualities arise.

In addition to these skills, the kids also got the opportunity to win amazing prizes.
