The Kaffy plans were born out of conversations between Avon HMO and leading professional dancer, fitness coach and Guinness World Record holder, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy. Having seen what professional dancers go through to access healthcare, with some dying needlessly, she was moved to find a solution to protect her own and we teamed up to make it happen.
This collaboration was a very simple choice for us to make. For us at Avon HMO, we believe that everyone regardless of who they are or where they’re from should have a healthcare plan and dancers are not exempt.
A dancer’s body is his or her greatest asset because that is what they make their living with. If anything goes wrong with their health, it automatically affects their ability to make a living and contribute meaningfully to society. Dancers get injuries and as people who express their creativity with their bodies, can be exposed to both physical and mental illnesses which they may not have the money to treat at that moment.
