Nigerian musician Rema has come through with ‘Calm Down,’ a new single ahead of his highly anticipated album.

Brand Spur Nigeria reports that Rema’s Calm Down was released across several streaming platforms in the early hours of Friday.

The timing of the song could not be any more perfect. If there is any time to drop a promotional single, it is now, and if anything, it has to be a love song in time for the favored valentine season.

Already, Divine Ikubor aka Rema is set to unleash chaos on the world with his album titled Rave & Roses billed for March 25, 2022.

Calm Down’ is Rema’s first solo release of the year, and it dropped just a month to the release of ‘Rave and Roses’.

In the new track, produced by Andre Vibez and London, the Edo-born singer recounts his encounter with a “fine girl” at a party and the frustration that ensued from the interference of her nosy friend as he tries to woo her.

The duo would later get their juice rolling in the absence of the friend, and they hit it off.

“Baby, calm down, calm down/ Girl, this your body e put my heart for lockdown/ For lockdown, oh lockdown Girl you sweet like Fanta, Fanta/ If I tell you say I love you no dey form yanga, oh yanga,” he sings.

While this may be just another unique animated montage meant for promotion like Rema usually does for his releases, it is interesting to note that the song visualizer for Calm Down draws heavy inspiration from Disney’s 1991 feature film Beauty and The Beast.
