HTC Vive is partnering with holoride on an in-car VR experience. The holoride team wants to make your car rides more entertaining, using VR to transform the vehicle into a theme park.
The company’s website shows examples, including a fantasy world, a space shooter game and a dinosaur adventure.
Alongside VR entertainment, each user will have a cinema mode to watch 2D content on a virtual cinema screen. The experience will use HTC Vive Flow glasses to deliver this XR content to users. The Vive Flow device will be the first dedicated gadget used in holoride’s cars.
The holoride technology combines real-time data of the car’s motion, navigation, and location with XR content to closely link the experience to the vehicle’s movements and to avoid motion sickness. You will be able to interact with the entertainment using similar gestures to other VR gadgets.
The VR experience company holoride, based in Germany, was founded in 2018 by Nils Wollny, Marcus Kuehne and Daniel Profendiner with Audi. The Vive Flow and holoride partnership will be demonstrated at MWC in Barcelona from February 28th to March 3rd, with the experience due to launch in late 2022.
