Ahmed Idris, the Accountant General of the Federation has been suspended indefinitely.
Brand Spur Nigeria reports that Idris’ suspension was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.
In a letter dated May 18, 2022, the minister said the suspension “without pay” was to allow for “proper and unhindered investigation” in line with public service rules.
Ahmed Idris suspension followed his indictment for fraud worth N80 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, had confirmed Idris’s arrest on Monday.
He was arrested after he failed to honour invitations by the EFCC.
The anti-graft agency stated that Idris allegedly diverted funds and laundered N80billion.
