There is yet more headache for Elon Musk, who is in the midst of rebuilding and buying Twitter.
Now, a shareholder in his company Tesla is suing the electric car maker, CEO Musk and his board of directors, accusing them of failing to address complaints of discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
“Tesla has created a toxic workplace culture grounded in racist and sexist abuse and discrimination against its own employees,” the investor, Solomon Chau, said.
“This toxic work environment has gestated internally for years, and only recently has the truth about Tesla’s culture emerged,” he added in the complaint.
“Tesla’s toxic workplace culture has caused financial harm and irreparable damage to the company’s reputation.”
Kendall Law Group PLLC, the lawyers representing Chau, have not received a statement from Tesla about their client’s lawsuit, although Musk’s company has responded generically.
It has said it does not tolerate discrimination and has taken steps to address workers’ complaints.
