COOKO is developing an innovative solution to transform the initial cacao harvesting process to improve traceability.
We’ve specially designed a source fermentation bag, embedded with a geo-location and GPS-enable chip that tracks cacao from source, feeding data that will help create new economic and supply chain models for improved farmer income and cocoa quality.
By capturing the beans into an airtight container fitted with a geo-locator chip directly, we can provide traceability and preserve the quality of the beans from the point of harvest, while improving farmer income opportunities.
The core elements of this solution have been tested in Cameroon, Costa Rica and recently in Ivory Coast in partnership with GIZ and PRO-PLANTEURS over the last year and a half.
We’re growing our team to deliver the solution and have recently appointed two new executive level leaders – a new MD for Cameroon from the chocolate industry and a leading global CTO – to deliver our vision to create truly sustainable supply chains everywhere – but especially in Africa – on our mission to change the industry, for good.
