Singer Olawale Olofooro, better known as Brymo has become a subject of trend on Twitter after the musician openly said that “as long as there is talk about Biafra in the South East, the desire for an Igbo president will remain a pipe dream”.
In a tweet late Wednesday, the singer, who is supporting Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said that as long as there is talk about Biafra in the South East, the desire for an Igbo president will remain a pipe dream.
“Well.. no other tribe seems to have a new country yet… as long as there talks by prominent people from Igboland about Biafra an Igbo presidency will be a pipe dream,” Brymo said.

Recall on December 31, Brymo went on a tweeting spree while speaking on Twitter spaces. Engaging with fans about his stance, he argued to one critic that it is “safer” and “prudent” to have the Igbo try out the vice presidential seat first.
He said, “Maybe… yet I would not pick to near make sure of that … and since the south-west unites us all, Lagos for precision !!…come rain or shine… lol… BAT is … NVM!!.. there’ll be no anarchy.. and the east hurts enough for all to shake when power goes there, plus these matters.

Brand Spur Nigeria reports that his remark comes at a time when the region has produced one of the major candidates for the presidency.
However, supporters of Peter Obi have continued to criticize the singer for attempting to sow ethnic discord in the run-up to the 2023 presidential election.
Tweeps Knock Brymo For Saying ‘Igbos Not Yet Ripe For Presidency’
Wading in, a Twitter user wrote: “If Brymo thinks my tribe is unfit to be the president or should be tested first, why should I buy his music or even mention his name where people would applaud him?
“Nah. That’s an enemy right there and you don’t show enemies love!”
Others said,
Maybe now that Brymo is talking the nonsense that affects all of us, y’all can finally cancel him. He’s shown this recklessness to those who have eyes before but because it didn’t concern a large population, y’all carried on. Whenever you wake up is your morning

He has been in the music industry for over 10 yrs but Asake of yesterday has made more mark than him in Nigerian Music. The reason is not far fetched. With a warped reasoning like this brymo really can't go far. This Election season has really exposed the bigotry of many Nigerians https://t.co/EW80IJWhx7

Sadly, it seems my fave Brymo has lost it.

Nobody cares about Brymo’s political choices. It’s his fundamental human right. But if he has to denigrate the Igbos to market his candidate then that’s unacceptable. Peter Obi is a force that reckons with every tribe and neither Brymo nor his unblown music career can stop it 📌

Many artists who sing about liberation and oppression are part of the oppressors they speak of. They monetise that type of tune because they know people get a kick out of it but in reality they are bigots and monsters in disguise. Stop rating folly-thinking people.

That Brymo's tweet is more than politics though, it is the institutionalized Tribalism, hate against the Igbos for trying to break out of Nigeria that has plagued Nigeria. Well, let's all pretend everything is alright and we are one.

If you think Brymo is one of a select few that think like this, think again. They are so many. He's just vocal about his. So, while you're sitting on the fence and being politically correct, know that many people who are voting for Tinubu are quiet about it. You're not ready. https://t.co/wl6AZPeugE

When we talk about the tribalism igbos face in this contraption called Nigeria people are quick to dismiss it as "playing the victim". Just take a look at brymo's tweets. Well, that fellow will forever remain inconsequential. Both in his music career and otherwise. Good morning!
