Andela Rwanda New Apprenticeship Program Connects Africa's Top Organization

Andela Rwanda has announced the launch of its apprenticeship program aimed at connecting Africa’s top organizations with top talents across Rwanda.

The global network for remote tech talents, Andela is launching a 12-week program named “Andela Rwanda Apprenticeship Program” which would help global organizations source and recruit top upcoming Rwandese tech talents.

According to the article made available to BrandSpur Nigeria, the apprenticeship program is offering organizations the opportunity to build their team by exploring the vast potential of Rwandese tech talents who are graduates of the Andela Technical Leadership Program (ATLP). This program is part of Andela Rwanda’s signature accelerator program in partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation, aimed at empowering Rwandese nationals with the required knowledge in software engineering to help them become future tech leaders.

Andela’s ATLP would simulate real-world technology product setup which would help participants learn teamwork while building applications with best practices based on Javascript and all its associated frameworks. The program which currently boasts of over 70% employed graduates from the ATLP, has successfully trained 380 junior engineers across ten different African countries.

Also, Andela’s developer apprentices usually undergo intensive training in PERN (PostgreSQL &MongoDB, Expres. React, Node) software stack. The training also affords the apprentices with required soft skills through an immersive, experiential learning process which would help them thrive as professionals in any engineering team.

Apprentices also learn how to provide value to their ‘adopter’ organization to enhance the team’s performance.

Mike B. Ndimuukundo, Managing Director of Andela Rwanda commented on the wide range of potentials that are being made to organizations through the apprenticeship program. He said “The Apprenticeship Program offers a unique opportunity for global organizations to tap into the vast potential of Rwandese tech talent, and help shape the future of tech growth in Africa. By collaborating with Andela’s skilled and dedicated apprentices, companies not only enhance their teams’ performance but also contribute to the development of technical talent on the continent. Join us in empowering the next generation of African tech leaders.”

The apprenticeship program is open to organizations hoping to increase their team’s productivity, which would help contribute to tech growth and development in Africa.

Apprentices of the Andela Rwanda Apprenticeship Program will be provided with stipends by the organizations. While Andela Rwanda will offer support to the participating organizations during the three-month program which includes, performance management through a strong and constant feedback loop between the Apprentice and an organization’s team lead, which would help the apprentice understand all expectations required of them during the program. The program will also feature monthly technical workshops, as well as coaching sessions needed to upskill and enhance their apprentice’s knowledge, so they can be more valuable to the team.
