Top professional and business platform LinkedIn has released its annual list of top companies to work for in India, surprisingly, most of them are not tech companies.

The list features 10 out of 25 companies in the financial services or banking industry unlike the list which was released last year, which was dominated by tech companies.

Pooja Chhabria, LinkedIn career expert and head of editorial for APAC, said “In India, the accounting and financial services sector witnessed significant growth during the pandemic,”.

She added that “This trend has continued to see an uptick thanks to factors like a relatively healthy economy, a burgeoning startup landscape and a young digitally-forward population.”.

Chhabria disclosed that this year’s list saw 17 companies make their debut which is an indication of good growth in India’s business ecosystem.

According to LinkedIn, one of these companies is Zepto, which also featured in the “LinkedIn Top Startup List” in 2022, which indicates significant growth and development in the company.

Other companies from esports and gaming industry such as Dream11 and Games24x7, also made it to the list for the first time.

Chhabria said ″This is reflective of the growing popularity of gaming in India and the presence of this sector,”

LinkedIn disclosed that the companies were measured based on eight factors which shows career progression  while it relied on in-house data collected between Jan 1st and Dec 31st, 2022.

The criteria are the ability to advance skills growth, company stability external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country.

It also added that to be eligible for the list, the company must have had at least 500 employees in India as of Dec 31st, while layoffs and attrition rates is expected to be at 10% or less during the period the data is collected.

The professional company also shared that the rankings give working professionals at all levels “actionable insights and resources,” such as skills and roles the companies are hiring for.
