Former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has revealed why the Federal Government (FG) postponed the 2023 population census.

Recall that President Muhamadu Buhari on Friday night after a meeting with some members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) and the National Population Commission (NPC) said the earlier scheduled Census which was to hold from May 3-7 will be determined by the incoming administration.

However, Shehu Sani via his verified Twitter handle said the 2023 Population Census was postponed because it could not fund the census, which is estimated to cost about $1.8 billion.

He wrote, “The simple fact is that the FG doesn’t have $1.8 billion for the Census and now shifted the Wahala to Asiwaju.”
