JAMB News: Blind Students Outperform Non-blind Candidates In 2022 UTME — Prof Okebukola

The Chairman, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Equal Opportunity Group, JEOG Prof. Peter Okebukola, has disclosed that blind students when compared proportionally with their non-blind candidates did better in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, which saw 139 out of 364 visually impaired candidates gaining admission into higher institutions of their choice.

The former Executive Secretary National Universities Commission, NUC, said this at the just-concluded UTME for blind candidates organized by the JEOG under the leadership of JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

Speaking with journalists, the Distinguished Emeritus Professor, who noted that a total of 337 candidates took part in this year’s UTME, explained that since the setting up of JEOG in 2017, 2, 600 candidates have had their UTME processed in the 11 centers across the country, with their accommodation, feeding, and transportation fully sponsored through the kindness of Prof. Oloyede. UTME News: 60,000 UTME Candidates Experienced Hitches – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says about 60,000 out of the 947,000 candidates, who have sat for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) within the last two days, experienced hitches.

 

The Head of Public Affairs and Protocol of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, stated this after monitoring the ongoing UTME alongside Registrar of JAMB, Professor Is-haq Oloyede and others, on Thursday in Abuja.

 

“In the last two days, excluding today, we have examined 947,000 candidates. Out of the 947,000 candidates we had issues with about 60,000 candidates and these candidates are being rescheduled (for the exam,” he said. READ MORE

UTME: 947,000 Candidates Sat For Exam – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB), has said about 947,000 candidates sat for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, within the last two days.

 

The figure was disclosed by JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, after monitoring the ongoing UTME alongside the Registrar of the board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, on Thursday in Abuja.

 

Stressing that everybody who registered would be allowed to write the examination, said JAMB has resolved the technical hitches experienced on the first day of UTME in some centres across the country.

 

In a statement he signed, Benjamin said the 2023 UTME was the best examination conducted “over a period of time.” READ MORE HERE
