Jorge Mendes has been named as Cell C’s new CEO, beginning on July 1, 2023.
Mendes is widely regarded as a strategic leader with a track record of fostering growth and profitability in the telecommunications sector. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position.
Joe Mthimunye, the chairman of the Cell C board, said in a statement, “We are delighted to welcome Jorge Mendes to the Cell C team.
Jorge has an in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications sector, and his track record of success speaks for itself. We have faith that his vision and leadership will help Cell C achieve new heights of expansion and profitability in the years to come.
Mendes has over 25 years of experience in the industry and has held senior leadership positions at both domestic and foreign major mobile network operators.
He most recently worked for the Vodafone Group as the chief consumer officer (CCO) of Vodacom, where he successfully oversaw a period of rapid growth and expansion.
Mendes spoke about his appointment as follows:
