…Issues stern warning to those planning to cause chaos

Comrade Adeogun Moshood Feyisetan, Caretaker Chairman of Ogun State National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has assured a smooth transition of power following recent appointment.

Speaking via a press statement Adeogun said, “I was delighted following my appointment as the Caretaker Chairman of NANS Ogun Axis. I appreciate the belief of the Southwest Zonal leadership of NANS in my person and for holding onto the precept of the NANS CONSTITUTION which is supreme binding over all members, including Senators, JCC, Zonal and National Executives.

“As a serving SUG President, who have been watching the affairs of NANS through the corridors before my emergence, it is shameful to say that we have never had it bad like this in the history of Students’ Unionism in Ogun State. As we all know that NANS is the umbrella body for all students studying in Nigeria. The lingering issues which bothers Nigeria students in the Gateway state is the deliberate intention of the NANS chairman to remain in power longer than expected which resulted not only in the violation of NANS Constitution but also deprive young Nigerian students the opportunity of passing through the leadership process to acquire experience.

“I have consulted with some leaders who are more experienced than I am and I am fully informed and aware about the Article 15 Sub-Section 1 of NANS Constitution which talks about

Further added that” NANS year shall be from the end of one Convention to the end of the next Convention and this shall be a maximum of fifteen (15) months.” Which makes the decision for dissolution legitimate and Valid. Therefore, I am taking up the task as directed by the National Leadership of NANS.

“Once again, I salute the leadership dexterity and capacity of the Zonal Coordinator of the most ideological zone, Comr. Alao John for this commendable and swift action taken by his administration. In my opinion, it’s time to take a bow and let students have opportunity and experience contest and Win election, transition and change of hand is necessary for progress. I also salute the National President of NANS (Comrade BARAMBU) for his leadership style which is commendable.

“Immediately after the Sallah break myself and all other members of the committee will quickly commence the process of transition which will bring about the emergence of new leaders to pilot the affairs of our prestigious organization”

“I’ll also love to work with the outgoing JCC chairman, to make this transition and smooth and successful one, it’s important that he self reflect his achievements in the last 2years in Office and the effect of his office on each campuses during his tenure, leadership should include self reflection, it helps us to do better.

“I have personally Spoken to heads of all Law enforcement agencies and some members of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the state and outside as expected being in a legal world that I’m living, about possible attempt by some elements to threaten, physical assault or attack some of my committee members over their appointment through this transition process, and I have been duly assured that no one is above the law, some mechanism had been put in place and that anyone caught, threatening, assaulting or attacking by an attempt or commission on any of my members will be made to face the Law.

“I hereby use this medium to charge all progressive senators in the Gateway state to rise to their responsibility and ensure we have a smooth and peaceful transition process. I also use this medium to call on all students leaders and cadres in the state to join hands with us in this crucial period as we restore and reform the image of our dear axis of NANS in the gateway state”.
