Nigeria will not play in the quarter-final at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand following the Super Falcons’ loss to England via penalty shoot-out in the Round of 16 on Monday.
BrandSpur Nigeria reports that Nigeria had played a 0-0 draw with England after 120 minutes.
The Super Falcons were at their best this as they tackled big favorites, the Lionesses of England, in their Round of 16 encounter in Brisbane, Australia.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Nigeria lost two of her kicks while England lost only one to win 4-2.
With this result, Nigeria, six-time qualifiers for the Women’s World Cup, failed in their quest to become the first African nation to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.
