FHA Mortgage Bank Disburses N10.6bn To 962 Beneficiaries

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Mortgage Bank has disbursed N10.6 billion in national housing funds loans to 962 citizens, and these loans have been used to purchase fully built houses in various states across Nigeria.

BrandSpur Nigeria understands that most of the beneficiaries are medical practitioners and doctors.

Hayatudeen Awwal, Managing Director of the bank emphasized the significance of this achievement in terms of job creation and fulfilling the vision of delivering affordable housing to Nigerians, as envisioned by President Bola Tinubu. The bank has created over 200 jobs in the process of providing housing solutions.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa, FHA’s Managing Director, highlighted the benefits of mortgage facilities over the cash-and-carry model, which has been associated with corruption and hardship. He encouraged beneficiaries to begin the repayment process, reminding them that the National Housing Fund is a revolving scheme that benefits others when loans are repaid.

Dr. Adejo Arome, a former Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries for the opportunity to own homes.

He also suggested that providing more doctors with homeownership assistance could help mitigate issues like brain drain and recurring strikes in the medical field.
