Google Pixel 8 – Features And specifications

The Pixel 8 smartphone sports a 6.2-inch AMOLED display (Google calls it the Actua display) with 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The smartphone runs on Android 14 and is powered by the Google Tensor G3 chipset – equipped with nine cores and a new GPU.

The screen is smaller than Pixel 7’s 6.3-inch screen. The refresh rate has been upgraded from last year’s 90Hz but is not adaptive – you’ll have to choose between 60 and 120 Hz. The Pixel 8’s OLED screen can support up to peak brightness of 2000 nits with always-on display.

To meet your photography needs, the Google Pixel 8 comes with a dual rear camera setup – a 50 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. For selfie enthusiasts, the Google Pixel 8 has a 10.5 MP wide-angle shooter. Google claims that the new main camera is 21% more sensitive to light than the Pixel 7 cameras.

No telephoto camera on the Pixel 8 though! In the Photos app, Google has added a new Best Take feature that combines images from your gallery to generate the most consistent image.

The Pixel 8 has a 4,485 mAh battery and supports 24W wired charging. The smartphone is also rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. Google claims the phone can last up to 24 hours and supports 30W wired charging – you can get 50% juice in 30 minutes. In addition, the Pixel 8 has upgraded face unlocking capabilities without any mention of specific hardware.

Bonus features and price of Google Pixel 8

The device also has rounded corners as opposed to the sharper edges of the previous generation Pixel device. The device runs on 8GB RAM and an AI machine learning model that Google claims is 10 times more complex than the one sued on Pixel 6.

Among new bonus features are in the keyboard and recorder app for seamless switching between multiple languages when you’re using voice transcription. In addition, Pixel 8 can provide bullet point summaries for sites in the Google app and the Chrome browser.

The Pixel 8 comes with Android 14 out of the box and Google has promised seven years of OS and security updates – leaving all competitors behind. Google claims that Pixel 8 will get Feature Drops every few months.
