The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited(NNPCL) has revealed its plans to inaugurate a $2.8bn Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline in December.

BrandSpur Nigeria reports that this development was made known to the public by the Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Limited, Oritsemiyiwa Eyesan, who revealed that the $2.8bn project was being constructed by Oilserve Limited.

Eyesan disclosed this at the 41st Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists 2023 expo in Lagos on Tuesday, during the Management Session themed “Energy Infrastructure Development, Financing & Monetisation Strategies in Nigeria: Reducing the Risks of Entry.”

Eyesan, while delivering her address, noted that the efforts put in by the company to ensure that the project is delivered in December are proof that the company is committed to Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan.

According to her, Nigerians will be seeing a huge difference in the way the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) operates henceforth because the company is ready to drive more investments into the oil and gas sector, one of which is the AKK gas pipeline that will be commissioned in December.

Eyesan’s assurance is coming after the Minister of State, Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, in October at the Pai River crossing session in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, announced that the 614km project would be completed by July next year.

The Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Limited, also revealed that investors were on standby to invest in the gas pipeline project, noting that the investors wanted an investment that would yield returns immediately.

She, however, noted that insecurity was one of the reasons for the delay in the completion of the project.

Eyesan, therefore, called on the government to address the issue of security challenges in the country and also come up with ways to stabilize the naira.
