Airtel Nigeria and the CrimsonBow Sickle Cell Initiative collaborated to support those with sickle cell illness and enhance sickle cell knowledge in honour of this year’s World Sickle Cell Day.
At Dansol Primary School in Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, they conducted a well-attended sickle cell awareness and clinic. Free medical testing, medication distribution, counselling for sickle cell patients, and public awareness campaigns were all included.
The collaboration encouraged early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the ailment while giving impacted people much-needed assistance and resources.
Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Femi Oshinlaja, discussed the program’s participation and highlighted Airtel’s commitment to health as one of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives.
He said, “We are proud to partner with CrimsonBow Sickle Cell Initiative in this important endeavour, as it reflects our commitment to corporate social responsibility and improving community health outcomes. The goal of this partnership is to provide crucial support to individuals living with sickle cell disease and to help raise awareness about the condition. Through this partnership, we strongly hope to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected.”
Continuing on the local brand news, while the event was ongoing, Timi Edwin, the founder and CEO of the CrimsonBow Sickle Cell Initiative, thanked Airtel.
She said, “This partnership with Airtel Nigeria allows us to extend our reach and provide essential services to more individuals living with sickle cell disease. We appreciate Airtel Nigeria for their support in making this event possible.”
However, by participating in a number of CSR programmes, Airtel Nigeria has maintained its reputation as a company dedicated to societal welfare. Together with collaborative efforts such as this one to address the obstacles experienced by sickle cell disease patients, they are also making progress under many corporate social responsibility programmes, which support the broader endeavour to improve Nigerians’ overall quality of life.
