
Winners of the 3rd Edition of Cycling Lagos, an initiative of BrandEscort Communications in partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission and the Lagos State Cycling Association, have been announced following a stamina-based cycling competition recently conducted in Lagos.
In the male category, Tijani Quwam, a professional cyclist from Lagos, won after clocking 56 minutes and 29 seconds. Agbo Francis, an Ogun State native, finished second with 56 minutes and 34.24 seconds. Moshood Garuba, an Ogun State native who rode for 56 minutes and 34.24 seconds, finished third.
After running for 56 minutes, 38.44 seconds, Patricia Nunachi of Lagos won the professional female race, followed by Angulum Doris of Lagos in second place with a time of 58 minutes, 22.58 seconds. With a time of 58 minutes, and 28.47 seconds, Oyewole Kate, a Lagos native, finished third.
Ajibade Ibrahim from Oyo State finished second with a time of 15 minutes, 22.13 seconds, while Sagiru Ibrahim from Lagos State finished third with a time of 15 minutes, 28.08 seconds, making Isiaka Ibrahim from Lagos State who rode for 15 minutes, 22.11 seconds emerge winner at the amateur male category.
Olawale Peace of Oyo State won the amateur female division as well, finishing in a time of 16 minutes, 48.88 seconds. Lilian Odumegwu of Lagos State placed second, and Ejima Peter of Lagos State placed third, clocking in at 17 minutes, 25.50 seconds.
Mukadan Isiaq of Oyo State won first place in the under-15 male category with a time of 3 minutes, 41.10 seconds. Babatunde Ramadan of Lagos State came in second place with a time of 3 minutes, 41.11 seconds, and Unimna Emmanuel of Lagos State came in third place with a time of 3 minutes, 41.15 seconds. The competition did not exclude the younger demographic.
Aminu Olamiposi of Oyo State won the under-15 female category with a time of 3 minutes 46.22 seconds, followed by Adeola Olabisi of Oyo State in second place with a time of 3 minutes 47.12 seconds, and Mukadan Rodia of Oyo State in third place with a time of 3 minutes 47.14 seconds.
Akinola Destiny from Oyo state won the male Under 10 category in 2 minutes, 35.22 seconds, followed by Emmanuel Popoola from Lagos in 2 minutes, 35.24 seconds, and Adesola Opeoluwa from Lagos in third place with 2 minutes, 35.25 seconds.
Odebiyi Hikimat from Oyo State won the female under-10 division in a time of 2 minutes, 36.25 seconds. Aminu Olamiposi from Oyo came in second with a time of 2 minutes, 36.27 seconds, and Victoria Kalejaiye from Lagos came in third with a time of 2 minutes, 36.29 seconds.

The Governor’s Special Assistant for Grassroots Sports Development, Mr. Adebanji Atewogboye, officially opened the third round of the 2024 Cycling Lagos competition, themed: “Sustainable Healthcare.”
Starting at Teslim Balogun Stadium, he raced celebrities around Alhaji Marshal Road before finishing back at the stadium.
Mr. Atewogboye followed other dignitaries in pedalling his bicycle to support and encourage the talented young men and women taking part in the event, even though it was lightly drizzling.
He underlined the Lagos State Sports Commission’s and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s commitment to giving the state’s athletes a strong foundation for success.
He added, saying: “The event is fantastic for the young athletes participating, and our focus is on partnering with and promoting talented athletes from the grassroots. We appreciate the organizers, Cycling Lagos.”
About the primary goal of the competition, cycling enthusiasts, business executives, and others in the state and nationwide are encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle and cultivate a cycling culture, according to Mr. Bamidele Adeleye, the organiser, and Mr. Michael Efengbe, the coordinator.
According to Adeleye, a lot of people have called the Cycling Lagos event one of the biggest cycling events in Africa, this is seen through the lens of the local brand stories.
However, the digital news platform holds that Samsung is the proud sponsor of the 3rd Cycling Lagos event. Other sponsors include Cway, Nutrify, Nestle Nigeria Plc, McVitie’s, ADVAN, NNPC, and Stanbic IBTC Bank.
