A novel joint venture, Sygen-ORx Biosciences, has been announced by Nigerian pharmaceutical company Sygen Pharmaceuticals Ltd (laygen) and Ontario, Canada-based pharmaceutical company ORx Pharmaceuticals Corporation (ORx).
Through cooperative innovation, the project seeks to transform healthcare and address issues with pharmaceutical medication security.

The joint venture company will concentrate on developing better generic drug formulations, with a particular emphasis on drugs that have demonstrated clinical efficacy, obtained regulatory approval, and had significant commercial success. It will also prioritise cutting costs and improving access to high-quality, branded generic medications in Africa, as well as expanding cutting-edge drug research initiatives into the regional and international pharmaceutical markets.
To speed up open innovation in early-stage drug discovery, Sygen and ORx will not only form the joint venture company but also support it by utilising their knowledge of worldwide drug discovery research and development, commercialisation, and distribution.
