In the Oriba community of the Epe Local Government Area in Lagos State, LG Electronics has erected streetlights and a solar-powered treated borehole as part of its corporate social responsibility programs and commitment to improving the quality of life for locals.

LG Electronics is a key player in improving the town and creating a more prosperous and healthy environment for its residents by providing sustainable energy solutions and easing access to clean water.

Speaking at the event, the Marketing Manager, Mr. Paul Mba, representing the Managing Director of LG Electronics Nigeria, revealed that the project’s goal is to support areas in which there are obstacles to portable drinking water access.

He stated: “At LG, we believe in empowering communities through sustainable development. Our donation of solar-powered boreholes and streetlights to the Oriba Community is a testament to our commitment to improving people’s lives. We are confident that these contributions will provide immediate benefits and foster long-term growth and development in Oriba.”

Throughout providing an overview of the project, Mba revealed that a requirements assessment and considerable stakeholder interaction preceded the decision to build streetlights and sink boreholes with treatment plants throughout the village. He added that the project will light up the community with ten 800-watt solar-powered street lights placed at various areas and five water stations that will be fuelled by six 210-watt solar panels.

One of the Oriba Community Leaders, Aare Adesegun Hassan, responded and conveyed the citizens’ sincere gratitude as follows: “We are immensely grateful to LG Electronics for this generous donation. The street lights will improve safety and security, and the borehole will ensure access to clean water for our people. These contributions will have a lasting impact on our community, and we thank LG for their support and commitment to our welfare.”

By installing lamps, the neighbourhood has been safer for all of its residents by eliminating darkness. In addition, the borehole will supply the Oriba Community with a dependable supply of clean water, meeting a vital demand.

According to Chief S.B. Olukolu, the Oriba Youth Movement’s patron, during the project’s commissioning: “Today is a day of joy and celebration for all of us in Oriba.”

Going on to say, these projects stand for more than just improved infrastructure; they also represent growth, development, and a better future for our neighbourhood.

“Water is the essence of life. With this new borehole, our community will have access to clean and safe drinking water. This will not only improve our residents’ health and well-being, but it will also ease the burden of sourcing water from distant places, especially for our women and children. The availability of clean water will have a positive impact on our daily lives, enhancing hygiene, sanitation, and overall quality of life,” the Chief added.

The officially commissioned street lights and the life-changing borehole were welcomed with music and dances by the Oriba Vibrant youths, BrandSpur local news brand reports.
