To offer an app market service aimed at the Taiwanese market, ONE Store, the second-largest app market in Korea, revealed that it has inked a platform and service deal with HAPPYTUK, the biggest game publishing firm in Taiwan.
Leading Taiwanese game publisher HAPPYTUK has subsidiaries in mainland China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Korea, Japan, Thailand, and other countries. Since its founding in 2012, HAPPYTUK has demonstrated broad capabilities in the gaming industry by diversifying its company beyond publication to encompass game development, marketing, and operation.
It owns mangtot5, the largest membership base in Taiwan, a game-specific portal with over 4 million subscribers. It also has the largest selection of game titles among Taiwanese publishers.
HAPPYTUK will oversee platform management and marketing, while ONE Store will supply its platform and developer ecosystem. The two businesses will work together to source gaming material in Taiwan. Based on this agreement, ONE Store intends to launch a substitute app market in Taiwan by the end of the current year.
Developers can immediately sell services in the Korean and Taiwanese markets by onboarding ONE Store with the introduction of the ONE Store and HAPPYTUK app market. Both businesses want to help developers with various marketing campaigns and make sure that services are provided smoothly by including various payment methods in Taiwan.
ONE Store is speeding up this process by acquiring strategic partners one after another. ONE Store is expanding its reach into the worldwide market in addition to its status as a top domestic app market. A collaboration deal of USD 50 million was inked by ONE Store and Digital Turbine (Nasdaq: APPS), a multinational mobile platform provider, last month. Previous to this, ONE Store received KRW 20 billion from Krafton in October of last year and USD 15 million from Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) in 2021. The aspirational worldwide expansion of ONE Store is being made possible by these strategic relationships.
Based on a successful funding campaign accessed by the BrandSpur digital news platform, ONE Store intends to acquire blockbuster games and expedite its global expansion.
Continuing, ONE Store has increased its international business expansion in response to worldwide tailwinds from the drive for fairer competition, such as the Digital Stores Act’s requirement for the establishment of independent app stores, which is currently taking place in several global countries, including the US and Europe.
According to ONE Store CEO Peter Chun: “We are pleased to embark on a full-scale entry into the Asian market with HAPPYTUK, Taiwan’s top publisher. With this agreement, ONE Store aims to make this year the starting point of expanding our overseas business and evolving into one of the most influential global app markets.”
Also, Ryan Yang, HAPPYTUK’s CEO stated: “We are delighted to provide customers with ONE Store, a leading app store in Korea. We look forward to a variety of games which we will provide going forward.”
