A group of creative advertising professionals have set out to build an escape from the industry in which creativity frequently feels confined to client briefs and agency walls.
We are excited to announce the second edition of CreativeBloc Carnival, which is set to take place on October 5, 2024. The event is the brainchild of some of Nigeria’s most creative advertising brains.
From Briefs to Blocs
CreativeBloc Carnival is a movement that was started by JP Idama, the Creative Director of The Hook Creative Agency. It’s not simply another industry event:
According to him: “We wanted to create something that goes beyond the everyday constraints of advertising.”
Adding: “And we’re not just thinking outside the box, we’re building a whole new playground.”
Following the enormous success of the previous year, around 5,000 Gen Z and millennial creatives from all over Nigeria are anticipated to attend this year’s funfair. It is said to be a literal maze of inspiration. Attendees will be guided through immersive “blocs,” each devoted to a different creative field, by the event’s distinctive maze-like structure.
The Maze
Everything you know about event layouts is obsolete. CreativeBloc Carnival’s labyrinthine layout elevates navigating to the level of an artistic medium. Attendees will discover “blocs” that defy expectations as they navigate through this maze of inspirations:
Nigeria’s most inventive brushwork is brought to life in an outdoor show featuring Artiste Commune at the ArtBloc. You’ll have to pinch yourself to not miss the silent disco cinema experience at MovieBloc, powered by O2 Academy, right next door.
Mavins Records provides the beat for the MusicBloc, and Otaku TV immerses attendees in an anime fantasy realm for the AnimeBloc. Through Africa Comicade, fashionistas may showcase their creations for sale in the FashionBloc, foodies can go on a taste adventure in the FoodBloc, and gamers can advance in the GameBloc.
Star-Studded Collaborations
Not only is CreativeBloc Carnival driven by imagination, but it is also supported by a stellar array of companies that value innovation.
With Leadway setting the standard and Harmony Stores, Captain Morgan, Don Royale, Bigi, Sosa, GetRensa, and Goalr demonstrating that creativity is all about scoring big, Leadway is leading the way.
But there’s still more! CreativeBloc Carnival’s media landscape is exploding thanks to partners like Orktave Group, Zikoko, and Kraks TV. The industry angle is being sharpened by Marketing Edge and AAAN, while Seafood Okra is bringing some flavour to the mix.
Not to mention the heavyweights in the creative field coming together to create an amazing funfair. Mavins Records is dropping the beats, O2 Academy is teaching us about entertainment, and The Artists Commune is giving the artistic flair. Everyone is invited to this high-profile cooperation!

According to Seun Longe, CreativeBloc Carnival’s head of sponsorship and strategic partner: “These partnerships are a testament to the creative community’s desire for connection and collaboration.”
Adding: “We’re breaking down silos and creating a true ecosystem of creativity.”
The Minds Behind Magic
A committed group of advertising experts spotted a chance to support the creative community and came together to create CreativeBloc Carnival. In addition to the carnival’s creator, JP Idama, there is Mmesoma Obi, a co-founder and content strategist for Spice360 who handles logistics like a professional act. “It’s like herding creative cats,” she laughs, “but when it all comes together, it’s pure magic.”
Alongside the duo, the team includes:
- Seun Longe, Brand Manager, Wild Fusion
- Williams Jonah, Brand Manager, SO&U
- Gbenga Ojumu, Senior Event Manager, Q21 Solutions
- Ugochukwu Idama, Ass.Manager, The Hook

Together, our team members’ distinct backgrounds in advertising ensure that CreativeBloc Carnival is more than just an event—rather, it’s a master lesson in creative experiences.
Beyond Advertising
Not only an event, CreativeBloc Carnival is a creative explosion that broadens the scope of what may be achieved when advertising professionals aim higher. It was created by creatives in the advertising field and is a daring move outside the industry’s conventional bounds.
According to Chief Administrator and co-founder, Mmesoma Obi: “We’re used to conquering briefs daily.”
“But with CreativeBloc Carnival, we’re conquering the entire creative ecosystem. We’re creating experiences that help creatives unwind, connect, and rediscover their passion,” he added.
The event provides Gen Z and millennial creatives with more than simply entertainment; it’s a platform for cross-disciplinary networking, education, and inspiration.
Leading Nigeria’s Creative Revolution
With only October 5th, 2024 remaining, it’s obvious that CreativeBloc Carnival is reshaping Nigeria’s creative landscape. With the next great thing constantly around the corner, this movement is altering Nigeria’s creative scene and igniting a new era of collaboration.
“We’re not just organizing an event,” JP concludes. “We’re orchestrating a creative revolution. CreativeBloc Carnival is where the magic happens and the future of creativity gets a total makeover.”
This marks the beginning of a new era for the creative community in Nigeria—it’s more than just a date on the calendar. One thing is certain as CreativeBloc Carnival gets ready to open: when it comes to creativity, the sky is the limit—and even that can be changed.
