
The results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) have been made public by the National Examination Council (NECO). The dates of the 2024 SSCE were June 19–July 26. The marking period was August 19–September 8.
During a press conference accessed by BrandSpur national news stories on Thursday in Niger State, NECO said that candidates can visit their website to view their results. It stated that 1,376,423 candidates, comprising 706,950 males and 669,473 females, registered for the SSCE in 2024.
Continuing, of the 1,367,736 candidates that took the exam, with males covering 702,112 and 665,624 females, some passed Mathematics and English while others failed.
828,284 candidates, including those in Mathematics and English, had five credits or more. That amounts to 60.55 percent. 83.90 percent of candidates, or 1,147,597, have five credits or more, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
In 2024, 8,437 applicants were implicated as a result of examination malpractice, compared to 12,030 in 2023. According to NECO, this equates to a 30.1% decrease.

It stated that widespread cheating was discovered at 40 schools spread over 17 states. The council stated that following a conversation with the schools, the proper consequences will be implemented.
According to the council: “One school in Ekiti was recommended for de-recognition for Mass Cheating in 2 core subjects and 01 Science subject.”
Furthering, the council added: “Similarly, 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, abscondment, extortion, drunkenness and negligence, in 12 states.”
