A strategic alliance between Traders of Africa, AliExpress, and MoMo has been established to change the e-commerce landscape in Nigeria by giving consumers access to international goods along with safe local payment methods and effective delivery services.

The agreement, which was announced at a press conference accessed by BrandSpur brand news today, in Lagos, intends to provide customers with a smooth shopping experience by providing affordable costs, exclusive offers, and quick shipment.

A statement released on Monday claims that through improved digital infrastructure, the partnership will help strengthen local entrepreneurs’ positions and encourage economic growth.

Uju Uzo-Ojinaka, the Chief Executive Officer of TOFA, said: “We are thrilled to bridge the gap between Nigerian consumers and global markets. Seven years ago, we set out to create an ‘Alibaba for Africa.’ Now, with AliExpress, Speedaf, and MTN MoMo, we have made that vision a reality.

“People can now buy not only African products but also over 200 million items available on AliExpress. Thia I’llpartnership ensures easy payment in local currency through MoMo and reliable delivery with Speedaf,” the CEO added.

Consumers can transact in Nigerian Naira thanks to the integration with MTN MoMo, and nationwide delivery to clients’ designated addresses will be handled by logistics company Speedaf.

The CEO went on to say: “Speedaf is also a partner with AliExpress, ensuring that products purchased by Nigerians are delivered promptly and efficiently,”

Uzo-Ojinaka added: “We call it ‘shopping without borders’ because now, with just your phone, you can shop globally and pay locally.”

With TOFA acting as an execution arm in Nigeria to streamline the onboarding of suppliers and customers throughout the continent, this project is in line with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Director of AliExpress Business Africa Key Account Geoffrey Jiang was enthusiastic about the collaboration and emphasised how it may improve Nigeria’s e-commerce environment. He stated: “With TOFA, MTN MoMo, and Speedaf, we believe we can go far in supporting digital trade across Africa.”

Usoro Usoro, the MoMo PSB’s Executive Director of Strategy, emphasised the importance of effective payment systems to the expansion of e-commerce, stating: “We are helping businesses like TOFA reach a wider audience by providing secure and seamless payment solutions.”
