The trailer for Style Magnate, a brand-new Nigerian Original reality series that will debut on Friday, October 4, 2024, and release new episodes every Friday, has been made available by Showmax.
Twenty gifted up-and-coming fashion designers who have been hand-selected through a demanding audition process are competing in the fashion and design competition Style Magnate. These designers are vying for a potentially life-changing 100 million Naira prize pool that includes a cash prize of 10 million Naira, a one-bedroom loft apartment, a three-month internship, and the prestigious title of The Style Magnate.
Twenty designers will compete in this high-stakes fashion and design reality show, with the winner taking home a life-changing chance to start their own fashion label and become a designer for stars. The competition will take place over the course of a month. Competitors will be forced to the limit as they take on tasks that put their sewing, designing, and sketching abilities to the test—all while under extreme time constraints.
The competitors aim to impress some of the biggest names in fashion with their show-stopping designs, and every episode raises the stakes. The competitors must demonstrate their capacity to sketch, design, and sew under pressure with the assistance of knowledgeable mentors and well-known celebrities, as they take on tasks that will test their abilities and inventiveness.
Leading Style Magnate is Nigerian fashion designer and icon Mai Atafo, known for his award-winning designs and expertise. As the show’s Maestro, Atafo will be on hand to offer expertise, encouragement, and, of course, his signature tough love. Hosting the show is Joseph Benjamin, bringing his charisma and experience to the Bottega, with Yolanda Okereke, a renowned stylist and costume designer for film and television, who will serve as the Fashion Principal.
Abisola Omolade, the show’s executive producer, says, “Style Magnate was born out of a desire to showcase the raw talent and limitless creativity we have in Africa. The idea was to create not just a competition, but a platform where designers can learn, grow, and thrive in an industry that’s constantly evolving. In each episode, contestants face intense challenges that test their design and creative skills. Whether it’s creating high-fashion looks for A-list celebrities, collaborating on group projects, or designing sustainable fashion from recycled materials, Style Magnate promises dramatic twists and edge-of-your-seat excitement. As the competition heats up, alliances will form, friendships will be challenged, and only the most talented designers will reach the finale. Their final designs will be judged by the experts and a surprise celebrity guest. The winner will be crowned The Style Magnate and earn a spot in Africa’s fashion industry.
