Through its yearly scholarship program, Egbin Power upholds its consistent commitment to advancing both sustainable development and academic performance. The program, now in its ninth edition, welcomed a fresh group of recipients, demonstrating the company’s commitment to helping kids in its host communities fulfil their dreams of going to school.

The Awards highlight Egbin Power’s goal of developing the next generation of innovators, leaders, and thinkers. The scholarship program contributes to learning possibilities for children and youth by giving access to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education, which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN.

Mokhtar Bounour, the Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power, highlighted the scholarship’s effects throughout time, pointing out that it has given students the confidence to realise their full potential and the means to flourish academically.

According to Bounour: “Education is not a privilege, it is a fundamental right that every child deserves.

“We recognize the pivotal role parents, guardians, and teachers play in nurturing these young minds. Their steadfast support and guidance form the foundation of the children’s success. At Egbin Power, we believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation. Through initiatives like this, we aim to contribute to the long-term development of our communities and nation. The success of these students is a testament to that commitment, and their achievements are our collective success.”

Continuing, Bounour went on to restate Egbin Power’s commitment to funding Nigerian youth in the future, saying: “In alignment with SDG 4, we will persist in fostering opportunities for young people to thrive, because we know that the future of our nation depends on the next generation.”

Fourteen students are the most recent recipients of the esteemed prize this year. The initiative pays for all of the following: tuition, books, uniforms, and a top-notch tablet for accessing e-textbooks for every student. The pupils will be accepted into Egbin Power’s Powerfields Schools, which provides preschool, elementary, and secondary instruction inside the safe confines of the power plant.
