The renowned blend Hibiki 40 Years Old, which combines whiskies aged over 40 years, is the oldest whisky that House of Suntory has ever released.

Chief blender Shinji Fukuyo of Suntory carefully blended spirit from the company’s renowned Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries to create this limited-edition whisky.

The Hibiki 40 Years Old blend provides consumers with an elegant scent experience by evoking “the tranquillity of old temples and storehouses.”

Fukuyo highlighted the importance of the whisky’s lengthy past and said that the combination left a “warm, nostalgic feeling behind.”

Hibiki 40 Years Old is a remarkable liquid that comes in a beautifully designed bottle and packaging.

The whisky’s hand-crafted label was created in collaboration with Japanese washi artist Eriko Horiki, and the box is made of twelve different types of Japanese wood, which represent the twelve months of the year.

The mother-of-pearl inlay, gold lacquer, and traditional Japanese maki-e techniques further adorn the bottle, enhancing its opulent appeal.

Hibiki 40 Years Old is priced at £33,150 (US$35,000) and is available in limited quantities at select retailers globally. It is bottled at 43% ABV.

The unveiling comes after recent releases from Suntory, such as the 2024 Kogei Collection’s travel-only Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak and Hakushu Peated Malt Spanish Oak.

By constructing a new, carbon-neutral manufacturing facility in Queensland, Australia, for AU$400 million (US$260.8 million), Suntory Oceania has also recently made progress.

In order to support Suntory’s wide range of over 40 brands, this cutting-edge location will act as a central hub for the production and distribution of its ready-to-drink and energy drink products.
