It has been revealed that the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) will work with the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) to advance its agenda for reproductive and environmental justice.

Following a courtesy visit by some of BJAN’s exco members, led by its chairman, Clara Chinwe Okoro, to the association’s secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, Lanre Adisa, the Managing Director of Noah’s Ark and President of AAAN, disclosed this in answer to the latter’s plea for partnership.
To advance the advertising industry, the Adisa-led AAAN exco has embraced the abbreviation REV, which stands for “Recognition, Expansion and Value.”

He has this to say: “Our expectations basically is publicity- this is a new administration, we have sold a new way of looking at things called REV to our member agencies and REV is short form for Relevance, Expansion and Value as the driving force for this administration. If there is any way we work together and partner to move that, that will be very fine.”

He mentioned that the AAAN PR committee would devise a strategy and coordinate with brand journalists to guarantee the intended results are met, ensuring that the two associations don’t operate in opposition to one another.

Koyejo Abiola, AAAN Vice President and Managing Partner, Imaginarium Marketing Communications, echoed Adisa’s views by stating that the REV agenda will benefit the advertising industry as well as the agencies themselves.

BJAN Chairman, Clara Okoro had previously stated that the visit was a component of the association’s efforts to strengthen ties with stakeholders. The Chairman said: “We did this with the last executives and most of what we discussed we implemented them for the benefit of both organisations.

“So, this year, we want to present two items in the area of partnership in respect of our marketing conference.

“It’s a symbiotic relationship- and we will also be expecting to hear what AAAN want from us in terms of value and in the capacity that we will, we will deliver to the best of our ability as an organization and individually,” Clara added.

Vice Chairman of BJAN, Lukman Ishau, stated that the appeal for collaboration is about AAAN member agencies providing support so that they can promote in the BJAN event brochure and BrandSpur national news reports.

Director of AAAN, Jonathan Oyovwevotu, responded that AAAN would provide whatever assistance it could. He expressed gratitude for the visit, saying: “In terms of reaching our members through the association that should not be a problem. We are all stakeholders in the marketing communications space to that extent I can assure you, we will give whatever support that we are capable of.”

Amechi Obiakpu, the Chief Information Officer, and Olufemi Adeyemi, the Finance Secretary, were among the other members of the BJAN team.

In addition to providing support, BJAN is hoping that members of AAAN will physically attend the conference, according to BJAN member Akin Adewakun, who thinks this will significantly increase the meeting’s influence.
