President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR of Nigeria, who has been ruling since 2023, has reorganized his cabinet today by firing five of his ministers.

Additionally, he selected seven new ministers for Senate confirmation and reassigned ten ministers to new ministerial posts.

The President dismissed: Jamila Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development; Abdullahi Gwarzo, Minister of State, Housing, and Urban Development; Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs; and Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism.

BrandSpur Nigeria news today reports that the President has nominated some other members of his Cabinet.

The term of suspended Betta Edu was formally terminated when Tinubu nominated Netawe Yilwatda as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. He went on to nominate Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State Foreign Affairs.

In addition, the President proposed Yusuf Ata as the Minister of State, Housing, and Urban Development; Suwaiba Ahmad as the Minister of State Education; Idi Maiha as the Minister for the recently established Livestock Development Ministry; Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labor and Employment; and Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Industry.

Ministries that were abandoned

To supervise the operations of all the Regional Development Commissions, the President, earlier in the day, announced the creation of the Ministry of Regional Development in place of the Ministry of Nigeria Delta Development. The Niger Delta Development Commission, South East Development Commission, North East Development Commission, and North West Development Commission are the regional development commissions that will fall under the purview of the new ministry.

To “build a thriving sports economy,” Tinubu also abolished the Ministry of Sports Development and gave the National Sports Commission its duties.

The Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture and the Federal Ministry of Tourism merged to form the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy with the approval of the President.

The President further stated: “The appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission.

Continuing, he added: “The appointment of Sunday Akin Dare as Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation working from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.”

The President wished the departing members of the Federal Executive Council luck in their future endeavors and expressed gratitude for their contribution to the country. He then urged both the recently appointed ministers and their colleagues who had been reassigned to view their position as a call to serve the country.

All appointees, he continued, must comprehend the administration’s excitement and resolve to put Nigeria on a course for irreversible growth and put their all into bringing the government’s aims to fruition.
