With an additional move in Xiaomi’s plan to diversify its business beyond smartphones and take market share in EVs, Xiaomi Corporation, a smartphone manufacturer, claims that by mid-2025, the second phase of its EV facility will be completed, advancing its EV drive.

The second phase of the Xiaomi Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Base in Beijing is reportedly moving quickly forward, with a completion date of June 15, 2025, BrandSpur news brand reports.

Workers will be working extra to speed up the development of the project, which is situated in Beijing’s Yizhuang New Town, a center for high-tech enterprises. When the expansion is complete, Xiaomi’s production capacity will increase, bolstering its position in China’s EV market.

Xiaomi was able to build its first electric vehicle (EV), the SU7 sedan, which debuted last December, thanks to the first phase of this factory, which already works in the same area. Just six months after deliveries started in March, the business reported sales of 70,000 units by the end of September, demonstrating the vehicle’s rapid popularity.

As part of its strategy to broaden its product line, Xiaomi first announced its entry into the electric car industry in 2021. Xiaomi’s ability to apply its knowledge of consumer electronics to the automotive sector is confirmed by the SU7’s quick sales. The completion of the factory’s second phase will improve the facility’s technological capabilities, particularly its automated manufacturing processes, in addition to increasing production.

Xiaomi is aiming for long-term growth in the EV market, with its Electric Vehicle factory expected to reach a total annual manufacturing capacity of 300,000 vehicles after the expansion.

However, the company has not yet responded to this most recent development, but its efforts thus far indicate that it is focused on building a strong reputation in the electric car market to go along with its well-established success in smartphones.
