NIS Launches Contactless Passport Application And Issuance Process

Beginning on November 1st, 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will implement the “Contactless Passport Application and Issuance Process” as part of its ongoing efforts to better serve the Nigerian public and develop a workable system that satisfies international standards.

The launch will come in phases:

Phase 1: Canada – November 1, 2024
Phase 2: UK, USA, Italy – November 15, 2024
Phase 3: Nigeria and other countries – December 1, 2024

Without having to go to an NIS office, people will be able to apply to renew their international passports from the convenience of their homes.

Cutting-edge innovation is being fuelled by President Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu (CGFR)’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ which cares for every Nigerian, regardless of where they live, work, or play.

Guidelines

  • Simply visit the Google Play Store on your Android or Apple store on your iOS and Windows devices
  • Check for the Nigeria Immigration Service Mobile App
  • Click on it to download
  • You can also visit: www.passport.immigration.gov.ng on your web browser
  • After downloading the App on your device, enter or login to www.passport.immigration.gov.ng on your browser.

Steps

  • Create a profile using a valid email
    Complete eligibility test
  • Input your NIN and current passport number
  • Fill out your Bio-data and upload relevant supporting documents such as your NIN Slip, certificate of local government of Origin, birth certificate, among others
  • Proceed to take your biometric, using your mobile phone fingerprint
  • Review all your information
  • Make payment
  • Finally, submit your application

Wait for your passport to be ready; it will be sent to the address you have selected within the allotted period.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, NIS is steadfast in its commitment to streamlining the password application procedures and simplifying life for all Nigerians.
