During the seventh Nigerian Fintech Week (NFW), which took place in Lagos, Remita Payment Services Limited (RPSL) reaffirmed its dedication to fintech growth. Remita, a major force in Nigeria’s financial technology industry, supported the event as a sponsor, demonstrating its commitment to promoting financial innovations and empowering African communities.

Mujib Ishola, CTO of Remita, participated in a panel at NFW 2024 to talk about “Africa’s Tech in the Age of AI.” He expressed apprehension regarding the area’s dependence on black-box AI models, warning against hidden prejudices and advocating for transparent partnerships to unleash AI’s revolutionary potential for financial inclusion.

Continuing, he had this to say: “Our overreliance on black-box AI risks excluding us from the true benefits of these technologies.”

“From Financial to Economic Inclusion: The Fintech Ecosystem Connection,” was the topic of Remita’s MD, DeRemi Atanda, who gave a keynote address on Day 2. He emphasized that the expansion of fintech must lead to real economic results.

Continuing, he had this to say: “The fintech ecosystem has grown by 243%, yet GDP per capita remains unchanged. We must ensure fintech expansion drives real economic growth.”

For long-term success, he emphasized the significance of creating a pipeline of qualified tech personnel, noting: “Tech talent is fintech’s lifeblood. Our talent must add value locally and globally.”

Atanda’s membership on the Governing Council of the Fintech Association of Nigeria further exemplified Remita’s dedication to industry cooperation. By 2025, he promised, the group would have 100,000 new members, solidifying Nigeria’s standing as Africa’s leading fintech country, BrandSpur Nigeria news today reports.

However, through its active participation in NFW 2024, Remita demonstrated state-of-the-art solutions and collaborated with prominent figures in the sector to propel Africa’s financial revolution. The business is still committed to driving development, establishing new benchmarks in financial technology, and influencing the direction of digital banking in Africa.
