Leading Binance Was An Intense Chapter, And I Don’t Feel The Need To Go Back – CZ

CZ, also known as Changpeng Zhao, has denied rumours that he could return to manage Binance, the cryptocurrency exchange he co-founded.

In recent remarks, CZ said unequivocally that he has no plans to return to the CEO post, stating that his departure signifies the conclusion of an era in his life. He oversaw Binance for more than seven years before resigning because of legal issues with the US, which claimed he was in charge of lax anti-money laundering procedures and enabled transactions with countries that were subject to sanctions.

Due to these accusations, Binance was fined $4.3 billion, and CZ was fined $50 million personally. After serving a brief jail sentence, CZ is now a significant shareholder in Binance, owning 90% of the company, but he still doesn’t hold operational leadership positions. Since then, Binance executive Richard Teng has assumed the role of CEO.

In a recent interview accessed by BrandSpur digital news platform, CZ reflected on his tenure as CEO, recognising the challenging nature of the position and reaffirming his choice to continue. He said: “Leading Binance was an intense chapter, and I don’t feel the need to go back.”

He stated that he has no desire to return to the top position and that his current engagement is just that of a stakeholder. His receptiveness to possible purchasers for his Binance investment was also disclosed in the interview. Despite the several offers he has received, he says he is not committed.

Furthering, he had this to say: “I’m happy to review any offer, but I haven’t made any moves yet. For now, I’m just a regular shareholder.”

A significant amount of his wealth, which recently increased in value, comes from his 90% ownership of Binance, the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world by trading volume, placing him among the richest people in the sector.

Despite leaving Binance’s daily operations, CZ’s public return to the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai garnered headlines, and supporters celebrated his visit. He was warmly received by his followers, who hailed him as a “martyr” for the pitch. Changpeng Zhao has stressed that he is prepared to move on from his CEO days despite the positive reception.

Under Teng’s direction, Binance’s future is anticipated to be centred on re-establishing confidence and strengthening compliance procedures in the wake of the most recent scandals. The business is still a significant force in the Bitcoin space, and its expansion was made possible by CZ’s vision.
