The first company to reach a stock market valuation of more than $3.6 trillion is Nvidia, as the chipmaker’s stock price increased 2.2% on Thursday due to investors’ optimistic assessment of the most recent U.S. election results, which saw Donald Trump retake the presidential.
Market observers anticipate that this political shift will result in lower taxes and fewer regulations, which will improve the mood of businesses generally. With its latest valuation of $3.65 trillion, Nvidia has surpassed Apple’s previous record of $3.57 trillion, set on October 21.
Nvidia continued to hold its position as the most valuable corporation in the world, even after Apple’s own 2.1% share price gain on Thursday increased its market worth to $3.44 trillion. With the S&P 500 technology index rising more than 4% since Trump’s win, the expansion also fuelled gains in the technology sector as a whole. The growing AI industry is the cause of Nvidia’s value increase, as the company’s specialist processors propel innovations for businesses like Microsoft and Alphabet.
BrandSpur digital news brand reports that Nvidia’s stock has increased by 12% this month alone, highlighting the company’s leadership in AI hardware. It is the best-performing AI-focused company on the U.S. stock market, with a valuation that more than tripled in 2024.
Currently, Nvidia is worth more than many large companies put together, including Netflix, UnitedHealth Group, Walmart, JPMorgan, Visa, and Eli Lilly. With predictions of roughly $32.9 billion, analysts are upbeat about Nvidia’s prospects and predict an 80% year-over-year revenue gain for the next quarter.
Due to its expansion, Nvidia has continued to compete fiercely with other tech behemoths, Apple and Microsoft, both of which have traded close to the top of the market capitalization rankings. Even while Nvidia presently leads the market in market value in the fierce competition to lead AI technology, Microsoft, valued at about $3.16 trillion after a 1.25% increase in its share price on Thursday, is still a formidable rival.
