CBN Approves Henrietta Ngozi Ugboh As UBA’ Non-executive Director

Henrietta Ngozi Ugboh has been appointed as a non-executive director on the board of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Africa’s global bank.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which gave its permission last Friday, is one of the regulatory organizations that have duly approved the nomination, BrandSpur banking and finance news reports.

Ugboh is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, has an MBA from ESUT Business School, and a degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration (FICA) and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, with more than 30 years of banking expertise.

In response to the appointment, Tony Elumelu, Group Chairman of UBA, stated: “Henrietta Ngozi Ugboh exemplifies the qualities of a seasoned banker and professional, with decades in her banking career.”

Elumelu went on to say that the Board is thrilled about the beneficial outcome she will bring to the bank because of her extensive experience and knowledge in a variety of areas, including commercial banking, credit, and risk management. He said: “We look forward to her invaluable contributions to the Group.”

Mrs. Owanari Duke, an Independent Non-Executive Director who joined the UBA Group Board in October 2012, also announced her retirement. Serving on a number of the Bank’s committees, including the Board Governance Committee, Board Audit, Governance, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Board Credit Committee, Finance & General Purpose Committee, and Statutory Audit Committee, Mrs. Owanari Duke demonstrated exceptional leadership during her time there.
