Byron du Plessis, the Deputy CFO of Multichoice, will take over MultiChoice SA and Showmax CEO, Marc Jury’s office in December, as Jury departs the company in April 2025.

Jury has resigned and only in April of last year did the former CEO of SuperSport assume the role of CEO of MultiChoice SA. His departure comes after several top executives left the pay-TV operator industry.

Imtiaz Patel resigned as MultiChoice’s chair in April. This wasdespitef the group’s declaration that Patel would continue to serve as chair until the Canal+ deal was finalized.

In 2023, Yolisa Phahle, the CEO of Showmax, resigned. This role was filled by Jury after she left. MultiChoice’s general entertainment group executive, Gideon Khobane, departed the company in 2022. Jury’s departure coincides with a critical period for MultiChoice, as the company announced large losses for the six months ending September 30, 2024, and subscriber numbers are declining. Jury oversaw SuperSport as its CEO.
