Key players in the marketing and advertising sector, such as companies, marketing agencies, and brand support groups, came together for the first-ever ADVAN Partners Innovation Day, hosted by the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN).

The event accessed by BrandSpur national news stories, which took place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, sought to investigate how innovation may boost marketing efficacy and promote cooperation throughout the ecosystem. A panel discussion with the theme “Unleashing the power of innovation for marketing effectiveness,” was one of the day’s highlights.

The discussion was led by respected industry leaders, such as Elo Umeh, Founder and CEO of Terragon Group; Maurice Igugu, Chief Marketing Officer of Sterling Bank; Stanislaus Martins, President of the Association of Digital Marketing Professionals in Nigeria (ADMARP); and Maureen Ifada, Marketing Director of FrieslandCampina.

Panelists discussed how innovation will change marketing in the future during the discussion. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more and more important in marketing, but Maureen Ifada warned against losing the human storytelling component that is the foundation of genuine customer relationships.

According to her: “AI should enhance marketing, not replace the core of storytelling.”

To illustrate the platform’s attractiveness to a wide range of age groups, she also emphasized trends like influencer marketing and the growing popularity of short-form video content platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Stanislaus Martins emphasized the significance of marketing analytics and the necessity of using specific goals to gauge how well innovation is working. He cited indicators that offer concrete insights into campaign effectiveness, such as engagement rates and customer lifetime value (CLV). He stated: “It’s about aligning campaign goals with measurable outcomes and leveraging the vast potential of digital platforms to track real-time performance.”

Elo Umeh talked about his experience in technology marketing, highlighting the value of innovation in scaling current solutions. He emphasized how Terragon’s groundbreaking studies on mobile advertising raised awareness and built industry thought leadership.

According to Umeh: “Innovation doesn’t always mean groundbreaking change; sometimes, it’s about making small but significant improvements to existing frameworks.”

Continuing, he also advocated for a culture of experimentation, pointing to international examples such as Google’s 20% rule, which allows staff members to devote time to side projects that frequently result in ground-breaking inventions.

Maurice Igugu emphasized how important it is for marketers to use data-driven tactics. “We are generating more data than ever before, and marketers must harness this to build actionable strategies. AI can help simplify vast datasets, but the real value lies in translating that data into impactful marketing outcomes.”

The ADVAN Partners Innovation Day gave stakeholders a crucial forum for cooperation. ADVAN stated its dedication to creating a forum where agencies, support groups, and brands can exchange ideas, talk about obstacles, and map out the industry’s future. The collective interests of Nigerian companies involved in brand communication are represented by ADVAN.
