NCC Reveals Valid Approval Of Disconnection Of Exchange From MTN Nigeria

Approval has been given for the disconnection of Exchange Telecommunications Limited (Exchange) from MTN Nigeria Communications Limited (MTN) due to non-settlement of interconnect charges, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) tells the public.

Exchange was informed of the application and given a chance to respond and present evidence. After looking at the application and situation surrounding the debt, the Commission decided Exchange lacked sufficient justification for non-payment of the interconnect charges.

1. In keeping with Section 100 of the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003, and the Guidelines on Procedure for Granting Approval to Disconnect Telecommunications Operators, 2012, the Commission has granted the Disconnection of Exchange to MTN.

2. Five days after the date of this notice, MTN will stop sending voice and data traffic through Exchange and will then make use of other channels in linking with other Network Service Providers. This! Disconnection will last unless otherwise decided upon by the Commission.
