
The Group Managing Director of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO Aviance) is now Mr. Olumuyiwa Olumekun, with the position which became effective on January 1, 2025.
He succeeded Mr. Indranil Gupta, whose term ended on December 31, 2024. Following the conclusion of his tenure as the group managing director, Gupta retired on December 31, 2024, according to a regulatory filing made by the ground handling company’s board at the Nigerian Exchange.
Gupta consequently left the company’s board of directors. After serving as NAHCO’s Group Executive Director, Corporate Services for many years, Olumekun retired in February 2022. He is a seasoned business executive with more than thirty years of leadership experience in a variety of industries. He held several strategic positions at NAHCO, including Executive Director of Corporate Services and Acting Managing Director, where he oversaw important departments like infrastructure, procurement, learning and development, information technology, administrative services, and human resources.
Olumekun was a member of the team that successfully carried out the company’s revolutionary 2019–2023 Strategic Plan, which increased profitability by more than 300 percent. He led NAHCO’s business development and commercial initiatives in 2019 before moving to the corporate services directorate.
Continuing, he has continued to serve as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of NAHCO companies since 2022, including Mainland Cargo Options (now NAHCO Logistics), NAHCO Commodities Limited, NAHCO Travels & Hospitality Limited, and NAHCO Free Trade Zone.
Olumekun is a graduate of the Lagos Business School, where he finished the Chief Executive and Advanced Management Programs, and he has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ibadan. Olumekun worked with Red Star Express Plc (FedEx) for 23 years before joining NAHCO. He departed as Executive Director in 2015, BrandSpur Nigeria news desk report.
He oversaw key operations, strategy & business development, sales, marketing, customer service, and information technology at Red Star, where he also controlled the FedEx brand. However, for ten years, he served on Red Star Express’s board of directors.
